I want a 6.0 in AWA !

How is the Writing Section Scored?
Two trained readers assess each essay on a 6-point scale. They use holistic scoring, which means that they assign scores on the basis of the overall quality of your essay in response to the assigned task. If the two scores differ by more an one point, then a third reader is called in. Final scores on the two essays are averaged and rounded up to the nearest half-point to provide a single score for the section. The emphasis is on examining your critical thinking and analytical writing skills rather than grammar.

A word of caution: It is not to be taken lightly, this section. It is not like how it was in school where you could deviate to movie sub plots. Strong examples with stronger explanations are required.

Since we are already giving so much gyaan here are a few templates that would make life easier:
1.I am of the opinion that ___(issue view that you support)______________________________________________________________.
2. Let us first examine those situations in which the author’s contentions hold good. The author states that “_________________________________________”.This is acceptable with reference to some examples taken from __(religion)____.The reasons supporting it can be that it is ___________ and that it can ____________ .The reasons supporting it can be that it is _________ and that it can _________ . In addition, _________ other examples can be taken to support this position. An important case in point can be that of situations encountered in _____(technology)___ .The reasons are _________ , _____ & ___________.
3. However, on deeper analysis , it can be seen that the above statement may be inappropriate or even indefensible in many other cases .An example of _______________ can be taken to illuminate how dubious the above stand appears. ___________ is _______________ and ___________ , _________________.Other examples which can further question the assumption are those that can be drawn from _______(academics)________ , ___________ and _______________.
4. Further, __(any examples that you an think of)________________________________________________________.
5. In sum, I would like to reiterate my stand that __(whatever your stand is)________________________________________ .
Respond to your argument task
The author recommends that (Whatever the author recommends say x) must be done in order to achieve/make sure/ bring about that (whatever occurs after x, say y) occurs. The assumption of the author is that (whatever the author assumes) is or will cause (whatever the assumption causes). This assumption is untenable because the evidence supporting it is weak and insuuficient. To support this recommendation, the arguments proponent points out that _________________ . The author’s statement (assumption/ conclusion) is deceptively plausible and has the appearance of valid reasoning because of several flaws and poor evidence, it fails to convince.
The argument concludes that x is occurring due to y and the evidence provided in support of this conclusion is that _(your conclusion)_____________ and ___(one more conclusion)________________.The argument is flawed in several respects as it fails to account for other possibilities and also does not provide conclusive evidence.
First para- First of all the author suggests that _____(take each sentence as it appears in the argument and start questioning each adjective, adverb and other quantifiers).
Second para-Further the author states that ----------(taken the next set of sentences and start questioning the adjectives used as you did in the preceding paragraph). The reliability of the study is not vindicated because complete information / several factors have been overlooked.
Finally the argument is weakened by the fact that it doesn’t consider several other possibilities which are equally probable. The statistics would be more interesting /forceful/conclusive if information about __________ is also provided. In sum the author’s argument would have been more cogent if he had provided Information regarding ______(mention details in the argument)_______. Without ruling out all these possibilities it is very difficult to accept the validity of the argument.
A few high- funda phrases that would pack the desired punch.
The recommendation is not explicit because it does not differentiate between situations.
There is a tacit presupposition in the author’s statement that _____ is also possible but the author does not provide any evidence for this.
The author’s assumption is extremely probable though not necessarily ceratin.
Logically implies that ______
This formulation is defective.
It is axiomatic that (counter the reference).
A probabilistic occurrence rather than a definite formulation.
The ineptitude in the authors argument is obvious because he makes a conclusion based on a sweeping generalization that _________( conclusion).
