Should I do MS or go for an MBA?

Lets say the obvious thing first - the correct decision can only be made by you based on your personal and professional goals, ambitions and interests. And it probably all comes down to one thing - do you want to stay a technical person or not? If you really know the answer to that question, you won't be reading this at all. But, for whatever reason, many Indians (and probably others) are in a dilemma when faced with this question. A lot of technical people pursue an MBA, a lot of people pursue an MS, many do both and even more do not pursue either of them - but do well in life. So, there is no universal answer.

The general perception is that, compared to their American cousins, Indians are more suited to technical jobs rather than managing people, but things are changing fast, with many Indians holding top managerial positions even in America. We suggest you work for a few years - see what you like and don't like - and then decide if you want to go for an MBA. And whenever you do go for it, you will be well advised to specialize in a new field rather than something like 'e-business'.

The total cost of an MBA is more than that of MS - Also the potential for financial aid in technical disciplines is more than that in an MBA program.
