What's the US Education System Like?

The US education system,much like most systems consists of 12 years of schooling, four years of undergraduate study (such as a BA or BS) and two years of graduate study.Most US colleges and universities offer admissions twice a year. In the Fall semester(September) and in the Spring Sememster (February).There are more openings for international students in the fall semester .It is during this time of the year that funds are granted to the universities for the research being undertaken. Assuming ALL of us are interested in a more research oriented education . Comparatively the crowd as well as competition for the spring semester is lower mainly because there are fewer openings.
