What is a Letter of Recommendation

A Letter of Recommendation is given by a person who has taught you or worked with you and who can assess your technical expertise .Usually there are a few areas on which universities expect you to be rated by your employee or professor.

  • Current standing in undergraduate class.
  • Comparison with students who have gone for graduate studies.
  • Command over subject.
  • Proficiency in English( oral and written skills)
  • Creativity.
  • Teaching potential.
  • Emotional Maturity.( yes, emotional maturity)
  • How strong is their recommendation( very strong, strong, okay-ish..etc etc)
  • Do they recommend you with aid or just recommend you.
  • If all the above points are touched upon your reco is close to completion.Good luck with convincing your profs.

In reference forms, donot tick in the exceptional column for all attributes. Be realistic. no body’s that perfect and the universities don’t expect you to be.
